We can help you win!

Reach your seasonal goals for your own success

No athlete ever achieves personal success without having goals and the determination to reach those goals. Study, training and racing all are part of the sport of competitive cycling, but without a set of personal goals there is no real victory. Whatever the reasons you have become involved in cycling, we can help you reach your goals and get your personal success.

Getting started is the hardest part of any sport and cycling is perhaps the most difficult of them all. For athletes with limited experience we provide complete beginning programs not only in training, but essential bike handling and racing skills.  We teach the new athletes about all the aspects of the sport of cycling on the road, off the road and on the track.  We include basic lessons in bike maintenance, racing tactics, training techniques, diet planning, weight training and equipment selection. Our athletes can choose to participate in group training sessions or one on one with a coach.

Not every athlete wants or needs the exact same type of coaching, so we offer long and short term coaching programs that address the specific needs of the cyclist. Some athletes may only need a few clarifications on their present training direction. We can provide one time consultations to review where the athlete has been and what they need to continue.

Bike handling skills are one of the most overlooked areas of cycling programs, yet without them the athlete cannot make use of their strengths. Smart Cycling can provide you the bike handling skill sessions to get you up to speed and feeling confident enough to perform at your best. We offer skills training camps as well as group and one-on-one riding lessons for all levels of experience, in all cycling disciplines.

INDIVIDUAL COACHING PROGRAMS

Competing in the sport of cycling requires setting definite goals and working in specific ways, over an extended period of time to achieve those goals. Every type competition event has its own physical and mental demands, whether it’s a team or an individual type of competition. Because there are so many aspects to this sport, each athlete is given a customized training plan to fit their requirements. It can be overwhelming for new athletes trying to train and learn it all by themselves. That is where having a good coach can make all the difference. At Smart Cycling we focus on the athlete developing at their own pace and within their own capabilities. Team building camps and clinics not only improve the individual athletes, but teach them the ability to perform at their best when training and racing with others.

COMPLETE BIKE FITTING

Just as no two cyclists are alike, no two bicycles are alike. Having all the right parts and bicycle components adjusted properly is a critical and very time consuming process. No matter how advanced your equipment may be if it isn’t setup correctly you will not receive the full benefit of having it. Smart Cycling athletes are given constant attention in the area of equipment set up and adjustment.

TEAM RACING PROGRAMS

Smart Cycling athletes are trained for and encouraged to compete in as wide a variety of bicycle racing disciplines as possible. Training programs are designed to help the athlete reach their goals in every type of cycling including track, road, triathlon and off-road. Each racing discipline has its own range of physical and tactical skills, mental demands and needs of team and individual cooperation. Being part of a team requires going beyond the aspirations of individual success and working to for a common goal. Team leadership requires a thorough understanding of the work required to achieve a team success. All of our athletes are trained and encouraged to be the leaders as well as the workers in an effort to increase their leadership skills. We can design a plan to get your whole team working as a solid unit and bring up the level of ability in the individual athletes.

SCHOOL RACING PROGRAMS

If you are thinking of starting a cycling program at your school, consider holding a CompuTrainer race program. Students can actually compete against each other on real bicycles, indoors regardless of the weather. Smart Cycling will provide the equipment and run the races. We can help to pick out the students most interested in bike racing.  Basic instruction and simple race games can be used to introduce riders to the various disciplines of bike racing.  Our emphasis is placed on athlete safety and having fun first. Complete bicycle safety programs are available for all ages from first grade to high school level.

All Smart Cycling presentations, coaching programs, athlete tests, bike fits, training plans and educational materials are designed, performed and presented by coaches trained and licensed with USA Cycling, Inc., a member of the United States Olympic Committee and the official governing body for bicycle racing in the United States.

Smart Cycling coaches participate in on going educational programs in order to stay in tune with the latest trends in the world of cycling and health. These coaches adhere to the high standards and code of ethics of the United States Olympic Committee.
